The Shadow Drill: Cast Your Shadow and Stop Swaying

Now that the weather has changed there will be less hours in the day to play golf. The drill I have for you is very simple to do and all it takes is a sunny day to get your swing back on track. In my travels around the world teaching the game, one of the biggest mistakes I see golfers make on a regular basis is having too much lateral movement off the ball which is known as ‘swaying.’


To make sure you’re staying balanced and centered over the ball at address try performing this terrific drill next time you are working on your game. The beauty of this exercise is you can perform it on the golf course, driving range or your own backyard. First, begin by placing a golf ball on the ground with the sun directly to your back and take your stance over the ball as shown in the photograph.
