Walk through the doors of The Celt, McKinney’s legendary Irish pub and transport yourself to the bonny island of Ireland.
Located in the heart of McKinney’s historic downtown, The Celt is decorated in rich dark wood tones with pictures and memorabilia of times gone by scattered across the walls. Overstuffed leather chairs and pub seating encourages patrons to stay and watch a game of soccer while enjoying a hearty Irish meal washed down with a pint of dark, smooth Guinness.
The menu is a mix of American dishes and classic Irish pub favorites like Shepard’s Pie, Guinness Irish Stew, and Bangers and Mash. Also on the menu is one of my favorite snacks, Scotch Eggs with Curry Mayo. History rumors state the first scotch egg was created as a cold “to-go” travel snack by a luxury London department store in the mid-1700s for upscale travelers. Scotch eggs are a hard boiled egg that is wrapped in ground sausage with a layer of breadcrumbs on the outside. They can be eaten hot or cold, dipped in mustards or a variety of other sauces, or even drizzled with a dark Guinness gravy.
