Jack & Grill located on the edge of Roanoke’s city center is not your typical basic sports bar of yesteryear offering a limited menu selection to a male-dominated clientele and a few televisions hanging near the ceiling.
Jack Layman, owner of Jack & Grill, told me the idea was to create a welcoming ambiance with a casual sports bar vibe that beckons you to hang-out with a group of pals to watch a game or to simply relax with a cold pour from one of their 50 plus taps offering craft brews, ales, and ciders.
Though they are famous for their house-smoked bone-in wings that are available in nine finger-lick’n-good sauces, don’t overlook the rest of their menu offering amazing food selections you won’t find at other sports bars.
When I asked Layman what his favorite menu item was, he said it was hard to pick just one, but if he had to, he would probably start with the marinated smoked, grilled wings. Then pretty much any burger would be a close second.
