Tasting Room: Pan-seared Filet Mignon with TF Vineyard Merlot

The TF Vineyard Merlot is oaked in French barrels for more than two years, which adds a soft, distinct flavor; complex and rich with a hint of dark chocolate and a satisfying finish. This full-bodied favorite pairs well with all hearty red meats including stews, meatloaf or enjoy a glass by itself in front of a fire as the cool breeze comes through during these Spring evenings. For a delectable dinner, pair it with the pan-seared filet mignon with garlic and herb butter recipe provided.

• Thick, tenderloin beef filets
• 3 tablespoons butter
• Salt and pepper

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees.
  • Remove the steak from the fridge 30 minutes before cooking to bring the filets to room temperature.
  • Season both sides of the steak with salt and pepper to your liking. Then add butter to an oven safe, cast iron skillet, turning it up to high until the skillet is hot.
