Here we are again the holidays have arrived and we may need to squeeze in a workout at home if you have been busy trimming your tree or decking the halls, chances are you may have eaten one too many appetizers or partaken in one too many toasts!
Here is a quick holiday workout to burn some calories and clear your mind of Elf on the Shelf and what party you can make it to!
Begin with a brisk walk around 5 minutes gradually increasing your pace to an effort of breathlessness when spoken to.
We will transition from walking to our workout area and begin air squats also known as body weight squats.
This exercise is effective for the beginner to advanced athlete.
It uses your body weight to tone and strengthen the muscles of your buttocks and your thigh muscles.
Complete this exercise focusing on sitting in an imaginary chair and do not let your knees shift past your toes. Perform this exercise 10 times in a row. You may begin to feel your heart rate increase.
Next begin lateral lunges by beginning standing with your feet shoulder width apart, hands on hips. Inhale and step out to the right and shift your body over your right leg squatting to a 90 degree angle at the right knee. Try to sit down with your butt, keeping your back as upright as possible.
Then shift to the left leg and repeat. Perform this exercise by completing ten on each leg.
